Flour Milling Basics | Adults | September 26

$60.00

Explore the timeless tradition of flour milling through both a practical and biblical lens in this hands-on, 90-minute class. From the fields of ancient Israel to your modern kitchen, the process of grinding grain into flour has not only sustained bodies—but also carried deep spiritual meaning throughout Scripture.

What You’ll Learn:

  • The anatomy of a grain and the refining process.

  • Common grains used in biblical times and today (wheat, spelt, barley) and their symbolic meaning (John 12:24 – “Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains alone…”).

  • Types of mills (stone, burr, impact) and hands on experience using a mill.

  • The importance of freshly milled flour in nourishing the body—just as God's Word nourishes the soul (Matthew 4:4 – “Man shall not live by bread alone…”).

  • Best practices for storing grain and flour for long-term use and stewardship.

Hands-On Experience:

  • Participants will operate tabletop grain mills to grind various grains into flour of differing textures. You'll take home a sample of freshly milled flour, along with insight into how God uses the physical to reveal the spiritual. We will also share a freshly baked loaf of bread, made with milled flour.

Faith-Based Reflections:

  • Throughout the class, we'll reflect on how the process of crushing grain into flour parallels the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit in our lives—transforming what is whole and hard into something nourishing, usable, and life-giving. Just as flour was a key ingredient in the temple offerings (Leviticus 2), your learning will serve both your table and your faith journey.

Who Should Attend:

  • Believers (and anyone else who is interested) who love baking, cooking, or hands-on learning; home educators; anyone interested in biblical living and self-sufficiency. Children over 10 years can attend, but need to have their own ticket.

No prior experience necessary. All materials and equipment provided.

Friday, September 26th – 6:30-8pm

Adults, Teens, & Kids 10+ (with ticket, must be accompanied by a ticketed Adult)
