Flour Milling Basics: From Grain to Daily Bread
Join us as we explore the art and science of flour milling — transforming whole grains into one of the world’s most essential food staples. Participants will explore the journey of the grain, from field to flour, learning about grain anatomy, milling processes, quality control, storage and the nutritional impact of milling flour fresh.
Kristin of Rustic Roots Revival will be facilitating the hands on workshop and will guide you through these learning objectives:
Identify the main types of cereal grains used in milling and their characteristics.
Understand the stages of the milling process and the machinery involved.
Evaluate the nutritional differences between whole-grain, refined, and enriched flours.
Appreciate the historical, cultural, and spiritual significance of bread as a staple food.
In addition to the acquired milling knowledge, you'll be encouraged by a short devotional on “daily bread,” and enjoy sharing warm, homemade loaves, fresh from the oven.
